Fender is a legendary brand in the music industry and their amplifiers are renowned for their iconic sound and quality.
Their Mustang amps series are one of the most sold modeling amps and the GTX version is a more advanced one.
In this review, I’ll talk about everything this amp offers regarding features, sound, and tone options.
Design
If you look at Fender Mustang GTX50, it’s standard looking fender amp with minimalistic design features.
On the front, it has an amp grill cloth with a silver Fender logo and on the back, you have various I/O.
All the controls for the sound, amps, and effects, are on the top panel like on all Fender Mustang amps.
This modeling guitar amp has a full preamp section and a LED screen with various control buttons.
The navigation and dialing a tone is very simple which makes it a great experience to use this combo.
Amps & Effects
One of the most impressive features of the Fender Mustang GTX50 is its range of amp models.
It offers 40 different amp models which include guitar amps such as Blues Junior, Vibro King, and more.
In one combo, you get all the clean, lead, crunchy, and hi-gain sound which is great for many things.
Also, 50 watts is quite enough for small gigs. These features make Mustang GTX 50 a great live and recording amp.
These amp models can be accessed easily through the amp’s intuitive LCD screen.
It’s easy to navigate through the different options, and the screen provides an excellent visual representation of your selected amp model. You can also adjust settings like gain, volume, and tone, giving you even more control over your sound.
In addition to the amp models, the Fender Mustang GTX50 also features 200 built-in effects.
These effects include reverb, delay, chorus, and many more. The effects are highly customizable, allowing you to tweak the settings to get the exact sound you’re looking for.
And the LED screen makes it much easier to create a signal chain where you pick an amp and effects. One of the greatest modeling amps in its price range.
How Does Fender Mustang GTX50 Sound?
But when it comes to guitar amps, the most important thing is the sound. So, what is the sound quality of the Fender Mustang GTX50?
I love it, I think it’s one of the best-sounding modeling amps you can get and it stands beside Boss Katana 50. However, Katana offers a little bit better metal tones.
The amps sound so real and organic that you might think it’s a tube amp even though it’s a digital guitar amp.
Clean, lead, and crunchy tones are just great and you can dial great rock, blues, or jazz tones.
Regarding hi-gain and metal tones, I thought it won’t have a good sound quality but was wrong.
You can easily dial in metal tones that have weight, power, punch, and real sound.
The same goes for effects. Every pedal emulation sounds great and even overdrive pedals have an organic tone.
Most modeling amplifiers offer good effect sounds and Mustang GTX50 is no exception.
In a nutshell, all amp voicings and effects are great and this combo can be used for a variety of music genres.
Features
Fender Mustang GTX50 has a range of features that make it a versatile and convenient amp for any musician.
First of all, it offers 50 watts of power and a single 12″ Celestion Seventy 80 guitar speaker that sounds great.
Then, you have Bluetooth connectivity, which allows you to stream music or backing tracks directly from your phone or tablet. This is especially useful for practicing, as you can play along with your favorite songs without needing any additional equipment.
Also, you can download a special app where you can dive deep and tweak the sound even more.
In addition to that, Mustang GTX50 also has a USB port that allows you to connect it to your computer. This feature makes it easy to record your guitar tracks directly into your computer, making it a great choice for home recording.
And one of my favorite features of this Fender combo is preset and it offers 200 factories presets that sound great.
You get clean, crunchy, lead, and metal presets that are editable. Also, it has an acoustic guitar emulator.
Final Thoughts
Fender Mustang GTX50 is an excellent choice for any guitar player looking for a versatile and high-quality amplifier. Its range of amp models and effects, combined with its Bluetooth connectivity and USB port, make it a great choice for practicing, recording, and gigging.
